Genesis G80: Taking Fashion and Luxury to the Next Level Over the Competition

In the luxury sedan class, there are very few vehicles that can compete with the Audi A6 and the BMW 5 Series. However, the new Genesis G80 manages to not only compete with these two German machines, but it gives the two a run for their money by splendidly outperforming them at a much lower price. The G80 costs much less than the two vehicles but has surprisingly similar features. While the Genesis G80 is a relative newcomer to the segment, it makes up for in terms of trim levels and powertrain options.

We encourage you to read on about all the ways the new Genesis G80 takes on the competition, then to check one out for yourself in our new inventory at Genesis of Conroe. Shoppers will find our dealership conveniently located less than 25 minutes outside of Spring, TX.

Performance: Engine and Transmission

The latest G80 comes with an eight-speed automatic gearbox with Shiftronic® that is coupled to either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The base G80 features a 3.8-liter naturally-aspirated V6 engine that produces 311-horsepower. The 3.3T Sport trim offers a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 that produces 365-horsepower. Finally, the G80 5.0 is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 power plant producing 420-horsepower. The G80 also features an active adaptive suspension that maintains passenger comfort even during aggressive driving on rocky roads in Tomball, TX.

The Audi A6 only has two engines on offer, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 248-horsepower and a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 producing 335-horsepower. It also features a seven-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

The BMW has a wealth of engine options for its 5 Series; however, its most efficient powertrain is the hybrid version. The first is a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 248-horsepower; it's hybrid trim also features a similar engine and an electric motor. Another option is a turbocharged six-cylinder engine and, finally, a top-of-the-line V8 that produces 456-horsepower. The breadth of powertrains means that the BMW 5 Series has a wide range of fuel economies.

Interior: Comfort and Features

The G80 has a luxurious interior, as is expected of any luxury sedan. It is well designed and features a host of interior features to make it one of the most luxurious vehicles on the market. It also has large windows, offering a better field of vision. It comes with either an eight-inch or a 9.2-inch infotainment touchscreen that features navigation, Apple CarPlay®, and Android Auto™ integration. The G80 also features leather upholstery, power-adjustable seats, and optional carbon fiber or matte wood finish.

The A6 is sleek and modern. It has leather-adorned seats and a luxurious wood and nickel finish applied to the dashboard and doors. The interior is dominated by a stylish 8.0-inch infotainment screen that has Android Auto compatibility, Apple CarPlay, and onboard Wi-Fi.

The BMW 5 Series is a spacious sedan with a lot of features such as a 10.2-inch infotainment system, navigation, Bluetooth® streaming, and optional satellite radio from SiriusXM. However, what separates the BMW 5 Series from most competitors is in the availability of smartphone integration. All BMW models, including the 5 Series, offer a one-year trial subscription, but then require payment for future usage whereas this feature remains free on the Genesis G80. The BMW 5 Series does not offer Android Auto™ entirely, thus, limiting the infotainment options of Android users throughout Cypress.

Exterior Design and Styling

The Genesis is designed to do what a luxury vehicle should; attract just enough attention for noticeability but not stand out. The G80 is subtle and elegant, with a prominent grille that gives it a unique presence on any road in Houston. However, its styling is different on the Sport trim with a different sportier bumper.

In comparison, the BMW changes very little as the years go. This signature look can be a sign of class, and the BMW will always stand out. However, times are changing, and car styling needs to evolve with it. The Audi A6 adopts styling from the A7 and the A8, making it less of a stand-out car in the Audi line-up.

The Genesis G80 earned top safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It features a myriad of active safety features such as Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane-Keeping Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go.

In terms of safety, the Genesis G80 remains evenly-matched with its luxury competitors from BMW and Audi. Shoppers can rest assured their security, and that of their passengers, come first no matter which sedan they choose.
